Poster Layout Sketches

Here are my layout sketches for how my poster could look.

I like the TV idea as it is the most iconic feature from the film so could be easily recognised. I like the "they're here" quote as it is weaved in with the static. The colour represents the amount of light there is in the film.

I like the grey one as it features geometric shapes in the style of Saul Bass as well as the chair from the film which is moved from one circle to another by the Poltergeists. I think the gradient makes the poster look scary and makes people fearful of what may happen and what the chair means.

I do like the clown as it is a universally scary image that I feel would instantly set the mood for a scary film. However, it is not iconic enough to be linked to the film so I don't think it would be a good image for the poster.

I really like the staircase as it uses negative space and creates a mood of mystery to what is coming down the stairs. The dark blue also adds mystery and coldness.

I do like the use of the sign from the film in the orange poster as it would make people wonder why they are leaving the town. I don't think it is linked to the plot of the film enough though and the orange doesn't suit the film either.

The silhouette of Carol-Anne in the green one is quite chilling which would make people want to know more but I think it doesn't link to the plot of the film enough.
